Applied Technology Education Center preview event

Several local news outlets reported on the Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC) preview event held Wednesday morning in the Cogan Hall Automotive Lab.

Hudson Valley Community College hosted more than 200 business, community and academic leaders, and elected officials, for a preview of plans for ATEC, a $85 million workforce training center to be built on the college’s main campus. The state-of-the-art, 130,000-square-foot facility will prepare students for in-demand careers in fields such as building systems, automotive and transportation technology, renewable energy, and semiconductor manufacturing.

In addition to President Roger Ramsammy, speakers included Walter Thorne, publisher of the Albany Business Review; Renée Powell, president of the NAACP Troy Branch, and Don Fane, president of Callanan Industries. The event closed with a ceremonial signing of the “Workforce of Tomorrow Pledge” by dozens of community partners who are committed to connecting students from underserved communities to careers in skilled trades and applied technologies fields.
